Enjoying the Journey to Success

Working At Our School

Read Why Our Staff Love Working In Our School

We think that Brunswick House Primary School is a fantastic place to work and develop your career.

Our school is a happy and positive place, where the children make every day a pleasure to be a part of.  We are in the centre of maidstone, just a short walk from the shops, cinemas, restaurants, museums, the library - something for everyone.

We aspire to provide the very best for our children and invest in high quality resources and of course, staff.

To be appointed to our school you will be a good or outstanding practitioner, dedicated to improving the outcomes for all children - we think our children deserve the best.

We have an enthusiastic and exceptionally supportive leadership group and an inspiring and friendly staff team.

Ofsted 2018 described us as 'a harmonious and unified community'.  But don't take their word for it, read what our staff say about us below:

  What Our Staff Say

Mrs Carrico-Wilson - Foundation Stage Teacher

Brunswick House is a friendly, welcoming school which is a pleasure to be a part of. I enjoy coming to work and seeing the smiling, happy faces of the staff and students. When there are challenges, the staff work together to solve them and I feel well-supported by the Senior Leadership Team. There is lots on offer for pupils including art, music and sports activities.

Mr Hutchins - Year 5 Teacher

Since joining Brunswick House in 2016, I have held a number of roles. From starting at the Breakfast Club to completing my teacher training here, I have been afforded great opportunities to build positive relationships with all the staff and children within our school. Also, I am fortunate enough to be surrounded by a supportive network of amazing colleagues, who are there when I need advice.

I thoroughly enjoy every day at Brunswick House because they are so different. I enjoy being able to plan and deliver a creative curriculum, which is inclusive for all pupils. From this, I am rewarded by the achievements and successes of the children.

Mrs Singh - Teaching Assistant

When I left Brunswick House as a child, I never dreamt I’d be working here as an adult, but I couldn’t think of a better place to work. The other staff are so supportive of each other and the children are simply amazing.  The children can achieve their potential in whichever subject they shine most in because every subject is promoted within the school. We have Arts week for those with artistic flair and Sports Week for those with zest for Physical Education. There is also Musical Theatre for those with a dramatic side.  These all make the children and staff “Enjoy the Journey to Success.”

Mrs Whitehead - PA to Headteacher

I love working at Brunswick House Primary school because no two days are the same, so life is never dull.  The children are so lovely, and it is great to see them come in as tiny little children having to learn everything and develop through to older and more independent children.

The values of Brunswick House Primary of respect, teamwork, empathy, self-belief and honesty are very important and you can see that reflected in the staff and children alike.  When there are the inevitable bumps in the road, children are carefully and thoughtfully steered through these.

I never realised before working at a school how challenging it can be and how dedicated the staff are to the children and school life.  It is a privilege to work alongside such committed individuals.

Miss Zigler - Year 5 Teacher

I joined Brunswick House four years ago as a Newly Qualified Teacher.  Even though each year has brought new challenges, it has been such a rewarding experience and a pleasure to be a part of. I have learnt everything I know from the supportive team around me and Senior Leadership Team, who are always happy to help and make me feel valued.  My favourite part of teaching at Brunswick is that as teachers, we are given creative scope to plan and teach an exciting and balanced curriculum, which champions all the children’s unique personalities and interests.

Mrs Kitchen - Year 1 Teacher

One of the best things about working at Brunswick House, aside from working with a fantastic staff team, is the many opportunities which have been given to me to support my development as a teacher over the years. Highlights have included an inspirational two-year course in teaching Reading and Writing, from the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education, and the chance to complete the National Professional Qualification for Middle Leaders. When the school became involved in the Rights Respecting School initiative, I found out all about how the Universal Declaration on the Rights of the Child can be used in every area of our school life and curriculum. Working with the charity Unicef, I am pleased to say that we achieved our Gold Level Rights Respecting Schools Award and our pupils had a great understanding of their rights and how to support the rights of others across the world.
